No Struggles, Just Opportunities

We're seeing and experiencing more struggles, around us than ever before.  I just watched a movie, Crossroads: Labor Pains of a New Worldview and was pleased to see that there are others like me.  I believe that what others may define as hardship, pain, struggle or a crappy week are indications of change.  Knowing this, we have the choice to anticipate how we want to move through the inevitable changes.  They don't just go away.  As we know, putting off change because of fear or denial doesn't actually eliminate the shifts we must make.  We are evolutionary beings living in an ever changing world.  What makes us think we are all powerful; finding a place of contentment and keeping it that way for the rest of our lives?  The only constant in life is change.  Knowing this, we have the ability to cooperate with change instead of challenge it.

Lets look at the struggle.  The movie I mentioned above showed that we are experiencing 66% more natural disasters now than we did in the year 2000.  That's only 13 years for such a huge change in disasters.  Weather…(oops, just cracked myself up) Whether we are looking at the cause being global warming or Mother Earth trying to communicate with us, the fact of the matter is that these disasters are continuing to happen.  Sometimes things get shaken up to wake people up.  Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, tsunamis, etc.  The world is way out of balance.  All these things as well as the current state of society contribute to the chaos we're feeling, the day-to-day challenges we're facing and the difficult decisions we're having to make.

Einstein said, "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them"  Here's our chance to take on a new perspective of the problems we are facing.  What if there were a way for us to reverse global warming?  Would you run out and take action if there were a way to save our civilization?  Maybe that example is too big.  Try this.  What if your chronic illness was a way of your body telling you that you have emerging gifts that could bless those around you?  Would you treat yourself differently?  Would you expect to be treated with respect by the nay-sayers?

Do we as a world have the courage to look at things differently?  If so, I believe we will see that these struggles are opportunities to learn, grow and change with the ever flowing oceans, the ever turning planets and the ever burning sun.  We are surrounded by action and motion.

Just the word 'opportunity' creates a feeling of joy and possibility.  It awakens our curiosity, like a child exploring the woods in the back yard.  Adults can question the world, be curious and explore.  There is nothing keeping us from looking at what is going on all around us and seeing possibility for something new and intriguing.  Aren't you just a little bit curious?

Be A Part of the Solution

I've always been a problem solver.  It just makes sense to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem.  I tend to look at many scenarios to a problem and weigh the pros and cons to determine what action to take. And there are always options and choices.  For example, during a time when I was facing the real possibility of being homeless with three children, a good friend of mine said, "You can either live in a single room far from your friends or you can sleep on the streets."  That put things into perspective for me.  I chose to be indoors and it was a transition place for us.  We never had to sleep on the streets.

I've contemplated the 'whys' around those who tend to have many opinions, but don't actually take
action.  Also, some people just gripe with no movement toward reconciliation.  So far, what I've come up with, is that we are conditioned, from birth to rely on others to fix things for us.  And not just fix things for us, but a quick fix is the most acceptable.  Our baby cries and we take her to the doctor where she gets antibiotics.  Those antibiotics are fighting something that the body can fight on its own.  A child falls and an adult picks him up.  We're training kids to rely on adults to pick them up.  An alternative would be to encourage the child get up on their own.  Please keep in mind, these are very simplistic examples and I advocate holding children.

I'm sure you can think of areas in your own life where you either see or have experienced the feeling of expecting that it's someone else's responsibility to solve the problem.

Our society has conditioned us to think that we must be reliant on the government to get our basic needs met.  Our food is controlled by the government, housing is controlled by the government, heating, electricity, even our transportation because if we don't have fuel (provided by the government) we are unable to get to where we need to go.

There are so many alternatives to being dependent on the system the government has set up.  Off the grid power, gardens and canning, building a living environment with recycled materials and electric cars powered by the solar or wind power on our mortgage free house, to just mention a few options.

I agree that we need each other to survive, but we don't need money hungry systems that exploit the hard working citizens around the world.  Every Being on this planet has a right of heritage to have sufficient water, food, shelter and be treated with respect!

I am grateful that we have choice.  There is not much left in our world that is sustainable.  I see innovations and ideas that are and will be produced to solve these issues.  I choose to be a part of the Solution!

What to Do With These Emotions

There are so many aspects of life happening at this time.  The mystic and time must learn how to cooperate.  Without cooperation, there is dis-ease.

My mother-in-law was in CICU for congestive heart failure last week.  We were successful in transitioning her to a Rehabilitation facility to help her get stronger and do some supervised healing.  I am grateful that during my own Extreme Self-Care process, I was in a place where my energy levels were consistent.  It gave me the opportunity to really be available to Ma during her time of need.  We'll take the next steps to meet her needs as they come up.

The triplets started their final year of Middle school, last week.  Every new school year creates a swirl of energy.  There's excitement, anticipation, sadness about Summer ending, school supplies, new shoes, new clothes, new routines, earlier mornings, etc... Four days before school began, my three had an opportunity to experience their last year of Middle School at a very good private school.  As a family, we chose to add school applications, re-evaluating finances and a major decision, about education, to our already full plate.  Each day was another level of excitement about he possibilities ahead.  It's been decided that the best route, for the kids, would be to finish school where they have been for the last seven years.  Consistency and looking at the big picture of finding a High School (or three), for next year, were the deciding factors.

A dear friend passed away yesterday.  The news hit me hard.  I've been allowing my heart to open more and more this year and I've allowed humility and vulnerability into my life.  It seems as though, that may explain why with her passing, I've been more emotional than any other person's passing prior. I remember my wonderful grandmother deteriorating with Lou Gehrig's Disease and eventually dying.  I didn't cry at the wake or the funeral.  I was sad and I missed her, but there were no tears.  I am surprised that there are so many tears this weekend.  This is very new to me and I continue to remind myself to allow the flow of energy and emotion.  Whatever I'm feeling, in the moment, is exactly what I'm meant to feel.

It feels as though there are these layers of life changing events, piled on top of each other.  It seems as though, at times, it's too much to handle.  As a mystic, I see the flow of events and experiences, in this world, as the natural state.  When significant events and experiences emerge in a short timeframe, the flow becomes more convoluted...to my toddler-stage inner mystic.  I'm being pulled into my Human experience, throwing off the balance of Spirit and Human.  As a growing mystic, I often encourage myself to see a new perspective and rise above the limiting beliefs and emotions of the Human experience.  I'm learning that it's not an either/or situation.  I am unable to live in a purely spirit realm and I'm unable to live in a purely human realm.  It's time for me to find a balance between the Faith based spirit and the Human experience.  Neither is better than the other and there is no competition needed.  The competitive energy of trying to become more spiritual than human is, eventually, futile.  The essence of living fully is finding that 'special sauce'.  The perfect mix of Spirit having a Human experience.  There are gifts on both ends of the spectrum.

Today, I will be gentle with myself.  I will allow the emotions with no judgement.  I will allow my body to express itself in whatever way it needs to at this time.  What feels like physical pain and weakness are not bad.  They are just the way my body communicates to me.  "Take a break...for as long as you need to. You must rejuvenate." No expectations. No attachment to some end result. No self-judgement. It's time to be.
