This blogging journey began five months ago, with the intention to create an outlet for the thoughts and emotions I experience through fibromyalgia. I specifically wanted to document the good that can come from chronic illness. The gifts, though sometimes hidden, I've received from Fibromyalgia. I figured that if anyone was interested in reading my posts, hopefully they'd be encouraged, inspired and activated to seek the gifts in their lives as well.
Today, I'm celebrating my 100th post and I'm inviting the World to celebrate with me! Why the World? Because over 25 countries have logged on and read this blog. I'm incredibly grateful for the interest and support I've received through my writing. This medium has given me the opportunity to to connect with wonderful people from all over the globe.
I can see that this journey is already bringing me to new areas of exploration. It has helped me stay aware of my healing process as well as sharing who I am beyond the illnesses. I've discovered that a willingness to learn and grow makes life worth living. I'm not saying that without it, I'd want to die, but without purpose, life is flat. I live a multi-dimentional life and I'm happy to share the ups, downs and sideways of my experiences.
Together we CAN make a difference!
Thank you, World, for reading, forwarding and following!!!

It's Not All About the Fibro
Although it may seem as though my life revolves around my diagnosis of fibromyalgia, there is so much more to my wonderful life than that.
There's…
*taking my kids to tour high schools for next year
*talking to the greatest sister on earth
*reaching out to my parents and siblings to help move my Mother-in-law
*taking an entire day, to pack my Mother-in-law's apartment, with the kids
*watching my daughters laugh and play together
*seeing my son laugh so hard he loses his breath
*listening to my husband tell me about the toys and various things being thrown back and forth between him and my son
*interacting with my brother on FB
*enjoying wonderful memories of past friendships
There's so much more going on…and I love it!!!

What It All Comes Down To
The last four days have been physically challenging and when my body is challenged, it effects my moods, energy and thoughts. With a keen awareness of the subtle shifts in those three areas, I do my best to gently self correct. Today was especially difficult. My sense of inner direction was obviously low on batteries because exercise, changing my thoughts and extra rest were not soothing the irritability. The last resort was to make a call to my doctor and go in for some treatment.
Through the tornado of the morning, my husband held tight. Once I made my appointment to get some help, I could see the relief in his windblown look. This wonderful man jumped into action taking on my 'must-do' list and making sure there was healthy food waiting for me when I got back. He also did the triplet shuffle (car pooling the kids here, there and everywhere) at the end of the day.
When the kids got home, my middle girl crawled into bed next to me, snuggled in and told me about
her day. It was comforting to hear her excitement and be let into the mysterious world of a teen.
My other two angels popped their heads in the doorway and said hi. Their bright eyes and beautiful smiles took me away from the discomfort I was having.
I'm grateful for my wonderful husband, Ray, who often reminds me through words and actions that, "we're in this together". I feel blessed by the compassion of each of my thirteen year old children. I am incredibly appreciative that they chose me to be part of their family.
Through pain, irritation, impatience, self judgement and exhaustion, there's gratitude, appreciation, blessings, angels, and love.
What it all comes down to is LOVE!
I love my family with every part of my being!

I'm Dancing With My Health
What a great August in New England! My energy was flowing with some to spare. My sleep was good and my pain levels were down. I was impressed with my stable moods and pleasant demeanor...inside and out. You know, that inside demeanor can really make a difference.
When September came along, the weather got cooler and I continued with my normal routine. There were a couple of changes...big ones...with the kids going back to school and my husband's mom needing more care but it was going well. About a week ago, I was having a conversation with my husband about how September is a month of transitions and that every year, I prepare myself for the changes. At the time, he was a bit blown away by the upset apple cart. The triplets were adjusting to a new grade, more homework and the most important decision...what sport to do. With all the hustle and bustle, I was calm and cool, centered and focused through most of it.
Yesterday was another story. I was feeling off. I felt more tired than I've been in a while, much more irritable and my inner demeanor was getting meaner. From past experience, I know this is usually a sign of a fibro flare coming on. This morning I had trouble getting out of bed. It felt as though I didn't get a wink of sleep. After the kids got on the bus, I went back to bed (moment of gratitude for the ability to go back to bed) and slept for another two hours. Eleven hours of sleep and I still felt like a zombie. I've been going over and over my routine to see if I've gotten away from an important aspect of my healing routine and besides my birthday celebration last Saturday (a little cake and a glass of wine), I'm on track. Is it the change in weather, the increased stress that I'm managing well or maybe that this is my peak allergy season? I may not ever know.
What I do know is that I'm blessed to have had such a healthful Summer and that I have a wonderful new doctor. I also know that these challenging days or weeks will creep in until my body is completely healed. It may take a short time or a long time to nurse my body, mind and soul back to full health and that's okay with me.
I'll step left when I need to step left and step right with the change in weather or song. I'll do the dosie do and turn myself around during the healing process. Listening to my body and my intuition is important so I can do the dance steps that flow with this process. If I'm taking misstep, there's tension and resistance to the direction I'm meant to go. Each day I learn a new step to this dance with my health.
Now to find a way to ease the mean in my inner demeanor. More self love will be my first step there.

Productive Day
Feeling very accomplished today. Completed three big items on my to-do-whenever-I-can list. Just got hit with an incredible wave of, 'so...tired...must...sleep...now'. Brain is slowing down, very quickly. Is that an oxymoron?
Ending my wonderful day with a feeling of joy, gratitude, bliss and heavy eyelids. G'nite All.

Celebrating 50 Posts
I began this blog as a way for me to personally, process my journey with Chronic Illness. I chose to post my inner most thoughts, be vulnerable, show my angers, frustrations, hopes and dreams. I could have just purchased a journal or typed in a private folder, but I thought, "What if someone else is going through something similar and may relate or be inspired?" Fibromyalgia needs to be visible and I want to be someone who is not afraid to put myself out there. People should know more about this illness and what we go through on a daily basis.
It's been two full months of writing almost every day. I've shared 50 posts and, all together, there's been 1,850 views. Over 15 countries are now viewing my blog.
I'm incredibly honored that you all read and pass on my posts. I've gotten some wonderful feedback and it does my heart good to know that my writing is helping not only me, but others as well.
Now, this part is for all of you...
Please let me know what you would like a follow-up post on. It may be the juice cleanse I did, the ECT decision I was making, or just let me know what you're favorite post has been so far. Also, if you have any questions about the illnesses my body is challenged with, feel free to ask.
If there is any problem commenting at the bottom of this post, I invite you to join me on Facebook.
Thanks for reading, forwarding and following my posts!!!

Being on Disability is a Full Time Job
If anyone out there has a life vest, I could sure use it about now. I spent six hours, today, reading health insurance information, prescription coverage options, trying to understand how disability payments and taxes work, dialing through the automated phone system at MassHealth, being transferred to yet another person who couldn't decipher my case.
My husband makes payments toward a family health plan, through his workplace, and due to my illness, the kids and I also receive MassHealth. Since I was approved for disability, I now receive Medicare and Health Safety Net. It took my fibro brain a few hours to understand the basics of it, so far. My husband is covered by one insurance, I'm covered by four and my children are covered by two. WHAT? Oh, and this will all change as of August 8th when our MassHealth is up for review. The review form is at least ten pages and asks the basic questions, that they already have the answers to, then progresses to a list of what you must provide as proof of everything you just filled out. I think I have to send a DNA sample, a dental imprint and a pap-smear test, but I'm not sure.
It's been two, long years of trying to prove that fibromyalgia is real and I live with it everyday. There are days when I'm unable to walk and days when sitting up is too painful, so I have no choice but to lay down. During the process of applying for disability, I worked with a great company. They did most of the paperwork, they kept track of what needed to happen next, they were available to answer any and all of my questions along the way, they were patient over the phone on those days when my communication and comprehension were poor. I'm so grateful that I didn't have to work my tail off to prove that I couldn't work.
I think there should be a sister company who manages the 'after approval' hoops and red tape. I'm exhausted from my work/non-work day, today. The first rule for someone with a chronic illness...don't over do it!
So, enough with my rant. I'm going to rest and relax and smile about what I accomplished today. Great things were completed, I'm contributing financially to my family again :) I had my family around, all day, and it was a beautiful, bright and sunny day. So much to celebrate!

My Grateful 4
Long ago I started being mindful of what I was grateful for. It was a very nice shift from the obsessions over world crisis, tomorrow's unknowns and stresses of the day. My children began their own Grateful 4 journals at age 6, and we would sit together, on the floor, sharing the four things we were each grateful for. Here are a some of their entries;
I thakfl fo my brothr am sisr (I'm thankful for my brother and sister)
Im thakfl fo my scl (I'm thankful for my school)
Im thakfl fo my famole (I'm thankful for my family)
my mom hgs me then i hg hr bak (my mom hugs me then I hug her back)
pece (peace)
Love
Stors (stars)
Today, here are mine;
1. Family! Starting with my husband and three wonderful children. As I sit here and write, I can hear the heart-swelling sounds of teenage laughter. I sit here knowing that my husband was able to take a rare, but supremely deserved day of rest. He literally watched movies all day. Which is one of his favorite things to do, being a film and tv person. I've written a whole post on my amazing husband, so I'll use this time to praise my offspring. I feel they are my angels. Since the moment I found out I was pregnant, I knew that they chose me. I'm grateful that they chose me and I strive to be the best guide to them in this world, that I can be. Although they are triplets, they are very different people, with very different interests. Every day, I'm thankful for their light, gifts and personalities. As a single mom, for 12 years, to these miracle three, I am blessed that I was able to bond with them so closely.
2. Health! It may seem strange for a fibro chick to be grateful for health, but it's true. Health and wellness have always been a top core value in my life. I look at each day, good and challenging, as opportunities to learn more about bettering my health and taking stock in the health I have. I can eat healthy foods, exercise every day, walk, communicate, create, and explore. These are all wonderful aspects of health. My physical and mental selves don't always function the way I'd like them to, but then I see it as a good lesson in non-attachment to the expectations of my experiences. And where would the wonder and curiosity be if what I expected came my way all the time?
3. Being alive during this World changing shift in consciousness! This is one of the most important times in our world. We are at a tipping point. The dichotomy that surrounds us is creating war and peace. We are learning about the true government and the cover-ups as well as the monopolies that parent numerous small companies, giving them great power. On the other side, there are peace groups forming, social networks coming together to envision a better way to live in this world. There are numerous individuals who are teaching us how to create a better world and it begins with taking responsibility of our own choices and our own lives. There is an uprising of the people and I find it fascinating! Don't get me wrong, I've never been interested in politics, but observing, reading and learning about what is happening around the globe make me want to get involved.
4. My process in blogging! Writing about my inner experiences and being transparent about my world has given me great freedom. For some, freedom comes from journaling and keeping it in a nice, sometimes hidden or locked, notebook. Some find relief in venting to a friend. I've tried many avenues to try to find what works best for me. So far, writing down what is flowing through me in the moment creates a sense of relief. After each post, I notice a lift in my energy. I am doing something that I can truly enjoy and it flows with ease and grace. I'm also receiving feedback from others who relate, or laugh or cry while reading my posts. Bonus! There is nothing better than doing something that comes form the heart and brings great joy that also benefits others!
